Do we do what we want or just want what we do?!

Does anyone do what they truly want? I was talking to a friend about it a couple o'days ago and it got me thinking. At first I thought 'No. I guess no one really does whatever they want, we're all limited by our circumstances', but then you think how many of us know what we actually want anyway? and how do we know that when we do/get what we want we won't want something else?
We want the idea that we'll finally get 'there' because we need the motivation to make this existence interesting, but at the same time we don't want to reach that point of contentment cause what will come next?! We keep on aiming higher and higher and try to do the best we can with every day that comes, doing life one step at a time.
So, in small increments some of us actually do what we truly want and to some extent our choice of actions will always be limited because we don't live alone here, and as decent human beings we try to adapt our wants with others.
Anyways, I'm off to do something I really want to do right now, watch Tv.
